That single-ingredient profile is the main safety advantage over chews built from processed additives or compounded ingredients: there's simply less that can go wrong.

Why wood age matters more than most buyers realize

Not all "wood chews" are made equal. A chew cut from young, soft, porous wood tends to fragment into sharp splinters under sustained chewing pressure — a real safety concern. Wood from mature trees (20+ years old, in the case of the Robusta coffee trees we source from) is denser. As a dog works on it, the surface wears down into soft, frayed fibres instead of breaking into hard shards. Moisture control is a safety step, not just a quality step

Wood that's still wet when packed can develop mould in transit, especially inside a sealed ocean-freight container over several weeks. That's why every batch we produce is moisture-tested and finished below 14% before packing, and measured again before the container is sealed. If a supplier can't tell you their moisture spec, ask.

Matching size to the dog is the buyer's responsibility to communicate

No chew is "safe" in the abstract — safety depends on matching the piece to the dog. A chew sized for a 25kg Labrador is a choking hazard for a 2kg Chihuahua, and vice versa: too small a piece for a large, motivated chewer disappears too quickly to do its job.
